Dazzled

Lois, Dave, and I went to a fancy schmancy restaurant in Souq Waqif before Dave went back to the Swick in early April. The restaurant is called the Isfahan, after a city in Iran. Apparently, the Emir of Qatar went to Isfahan and after seeing a resturant there, insisted on building a similar one in Doha. Well, it is a very glittery place and we were dazzled.

The food was very nice, although none of us knew enough about Iranian food to know what to order. The food was very fresh-tasting, I think in part because there was a lot of mint in it ... yogurt, as well. Oh, and yummy Turkish bread from a tandoor. So good. We sat on chairs at a table but we could also have sat on cushions on the floor, with a low table. Maybe next time, if the knees hold up:-) It really whetted my appetite for going to Iran ... Shiraz is only a 45 minute flight from Doha ... one day, Insha'Allah! And Isfahan would definitely be on my list of places to visit.

What a sensational restaurant or foreign looking to me, very glittery and glamorous. the food looks very different too. I would love to have been there too.
